Islam – the monotheistic religion based on the teachings of Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)
Islam, one of the three major world religions, along with Judaism and Christianity, profess monotheism or the belief in a single GOD. In Arabic, Islam means ”surrender” or ”submission”, ”submission to the will of GOD”. A Muslim, which in Arabic means “one who surrenders to GOD,” is a person who practices Islam. The name of Muslim’s GOD in Arabic is ALLAH. The core idea of Islam is that there is only one all-knowing, all-powerful GOD who created the cosmos. This strict monotheism, together with the Islamic doctrine that all Muslims are equal in the eyes of GOD, serves as the foundation for a shared sense of allegiance to GOD that transcends disparities in class, ethnicity, nationality, and even religious practice. Therefore, regardless of their ethnicity or country of origin, all Muslims are a part of the same group known as the Ummah.
Islam is the religion of truth. It represents the moral code that ALLAH, the Almighty and All-Knowing, revealed for the benefit of humanity. Two things are necessary for the proper development of human life:
(a) the means to support life and meet the material needs of the individual and society;
(b) an understanding of the fundamentals of individual and social behaviour enables man to realize his potential and preserve justice and peace in society.
Both of these have been fully supported by the Universe’s Creator. He has made all the resources of nature available to man to meet his material requirements. Moreover, he has chosen men to serve as His prophets; through them, He has revealed the law of life that can direct man’s steps toward righteousness to meet his spiritual, social, and cultural requirements. Thus, Islam, the faith that ALLAH’s prophets all proclaimed, is recognized for embodying this way of life.
Islam – The World’s Fastest-Growing Religion
Muslims work to dispel myths about their religion, yet it continues to increase quickly. Islam is now the religion with the quickest rate of growth. By the end of the century, according to experts, Islam will overtake Christianity as the religion with the most adherents.
Islam is the fastest-growing religion in India. The growth rate of Muslims has been consistently higher than that of Hindus ever since the census data of independent India has been available. For example, during the 1991-2001 decade, the Muslim growth rate was 29.5% (vs 19.9% for Hindus). However, the Muslim population growth rate declined to 24.6% during the 2001-2011 decade, keeping with the similar decline in most religious groups of India.
With over 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide, Islam is the second most prevalent religion after Christianity. The birth of Islam is commonly dated to the 7th century, making it the most recent of the leading world faiths, but having older origins. Islam was founded during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) at Mecca, which is now in Saudi Arabia. Hence, the Faith is very quickly gaining ground everywhere.
